This year our winner, Katherine Siracusa, hails from Guardian Angels Interparochial School. Through the generosity of our Essay Contest sponsor, Saint Leo University, Katherine will receive a $10,000 scholarship to the Catholic High School of her choice. For this contest Katherine wrote a 500-word essay on the subject “What does a Catholic education mean to me?” For her, “a Catholic education means not just learning the core subjects like math, science, social studies, and English, but also learning how to have a positive effect on others and herself.”
Katherine plays soccer, basketball, track, and flag football for her school and is an avid reader. In her spare time, Katherine reached the level of ‘black belt recommended’ in Taekwondo. Katherine is a parishioner at St. Ignatius Catholic Church and is excited to be continuing her spiritual journey when she attends Clearwater Central Catholic High School in the fall.
