Daystar Life Center of Citrus County, a ministry of St. Benedict Parish in Crystal River, recently received a bequest from Victor and Millie Montalvo for the future of the ministry efforts of Daystar Life Center.  It enabled the Center to improve the parking and driveway areas, perform some outstanding maintenance projects, and help with some other initiatives that they wanted to pursue.  After completing all of these projects, they still had funds remaining.  To help plan for the future, the advisory board, in conjunction with the pastor, Fr. Ryszard Stradomski, decided to endow a portion of the remaining funds to create a consistent revenue stream that will continue, in perpetuity, to provide funding that will ensure that the ministry continues to be able to address the needs of the people of Citrus County.

“I was excited to find out that the Catholic Foundation offers the ability to invest in endowments for our ministries,” Executive Director Anthony Kopka shared.  “Knowing that we can address the immediate and future needs of the Daystar Life Center of Citrus County is an incredible legacy that the Board and Fr. Ryszard have done.  We know now that this will provide funding every year and our key donors can help grow this fund even more through their estate gifts.”

Since 1983, Daystar Life Center serves the poor, the homeless and the struggling families with children in Citrus County, Florida.  Daystar provides immediate assistance for basic needs such as food, clothing and financial help primarily for rent and utilities.
