Established in 1997, the Catholic Foundation exists to support the work of Christ in the Diocese of St. Petersburg by securing gifts, providing donor services and managing financial resources to benefit people assisted by all parish and Diocesan ministries.
Bishop Lynch desired to create an organization that could serve as the fiscal resource to segregate long-term assets on behalf of the ministries of our Diocese. The Foundation exists to serve all entities of the Diocese, especially when it comes to Gift Planning and Legacy Gifts, through endowments, charitable gift annuities, and more. Also, the Foundation works to educate parishioners throughout the Diocese about the impact of leaving a legacy for your parish, school or favorite ministry.
In 2004, Bishop Lynch asked the Foundation to maintain an extra focus on tuition assistance for our Catholic schools. The Foundation began three new scholarship programs:
- Match Grant Program
- High School Special Tuition Assistance Program
- Bridge Scholarship Program
Through its annual Catholic Foundation Celebration, the Foundation has raised millions of dollars of support for tuition assistance at our Catholic schools.
The Foundation continues to recognize outstanding contributors to Catholic Education annually, along with incredible students who truly have benefitted from our Catholic schools.
